Volunteer with us

How can I help?

We are completely reliant on volunteers that give up their time to collect donations, size sort and quality check, then set up and run our events!

So how can you help?

1) Help us set up at an event! We are generally at the venue an hour beforehand to set up. The van needs emptying. Every table needs laying with clothes, shoes and accessories. What's more if you're there first you get first dibs on what's going out! We can't offer you payment but we can offer you this (and maybe a croissant and a drink as a small thankyou). Children are welcome to join...we usually have ours with us too!

2) Be a donation point, either via a school or local group and help get items to us at our base in Astbury, Congleton. BCM is run as a hobby on top of our jobs and kids so unfortunately we cannot collect things; the more people we have helping us get donations to us the better.

3) Sorting sizing nights. We do monthly sorting nights where we size everything up and get it ready in bags ahead of events. This is strictly a no child zone and usually involves a lot of "mum is knakered" chat and brownies to make us all feel better.

Other skills? Do you have a hidden knack at upcycling? Or maybe crafting with rags? We would love to hear from you to either help engage more people at our events or to help us reduce the rags we do have to send to landfill.

Events

Just turn up an hour before we open and get to work!

No need to warn us you are coming - the more hands the better

Donation point

Drop us an email to thebigclothesmovement@hotmail.com if you are interessted in becoming an official drop point for us. If you have a link into a local school and want to make it happen for them we can also arrange a BCM bin! Again please just drop us an email to discuss how you want to help.

Sorting nights

Come speak to us after helping at one of our events or speak to us during dropping clothes off for this one!

We'd love to invite you into our sorting night gang if you can give up a Tuesday evening every month or so.
